Valencia - Rabbit Inflation Olympics

DAY 22
On Friday night we reached Valencia, actually Les Palmeres -  a small resort town next to the City of Valencia.
We spent a night in a lively camping site, which like many others here in Spain, is a popular vacation destination for whole Spanish families, including little babies and great grandparents. As we disturbed our neighbors a bit with our late arrival we had to be very nice to them in the morning, but as in Spain life definitely goes on through the night as well, it wasn’t a huge problem and we luckily received many smiles back.
We headed straight to the beach where the national kiteboarding event was taking a place. The beach here is surrounded by tall buildings, but as it is quite wide and sandy those hotels are not a huge discomfort for kiting. No-wind was definitely a bigger problem and so this day was going to be rather  very calm and slow. We headed to the Wainman Hawaii tent which was placed in the middle of the event site. We were very happy to meet our whole Spanish team here: Sebas, Martin, Gorka and many others. After warm greetings we followed the mellow flow of the day and sit in a beach-bar to see what next hours would bring.

The lack of wind was definitely making all participants, and us as well, very bored and so of course we had to find some fun activity. The Gang enjoyed Spanish coffee and after interesting discussion about the  global political/financial/ecological situation they finally came back to the beach ground and quickly came up with the idea of organizing the kite-pumping-contest in order to warm up the crowd.
This was a very good thought as after short notice through the loud event speakers, there was around 35 people signed up for the competition and another 350 (!!!) gathering to watch the contest.
Seeing how many people are getting ready we prepared extra prizes and started the qualifications.

It was quite funny as amongst those 35 Rabbit contenders there were couple guys who never pumped kites before and so you can imagine that it was really a great and super funny show ;)
In the female division, amongst many  beautiful bikini girls pumping the Rabbits we had to choose the real winner by the result and not only by the look and so it was quite difficult for us. In the end the girl who won, Alexia, seemed to be a perfect kite-lady, very beautiful but also super fast pumper. Her boyfriend must had given her good training each time he went out, and indeed he was so happy with the Blunt board that he thought she won for him. Oh no Amigo, you are in trouble – Alexia said that now definitely she will learn how to kite and use her new toy as often as possible.

Through the whole competition until the finals, the crowd was seriously cheering the contest and so the atmosphere was super hot.
In the men division pumping became really serious and we are just shocked how fast the Boss can be inflated. Non other kiter, even inflating some super-duper one pumpers, could compete with those guys, it was just insane!
We could easy understand now why Spaniards became World Champs – normally they don’t care but if they feel like it is fun, then they definitely have the spirit for the competition and they give absolute 100% of what they got.
Winner, Gonzalez (just like Speedy Gonzales) was very happy with his brand new Boss that Lou passed to him. Congratulations to all winners and participants!!!

In the evening we went with our Rabbit friend from Valencia charming Don Fernando to a very nice restaurant to try the famous Spanish steaks and after that tasteful dinner some Rabbits headed towards the club, where hot Spanish girls were slowly gathering as traditionally the party was starting super late, to end when the sun was rising.
