Valencia - Niccolo - The EnterSpaining Octopus
DAY 23
Sunday morning we woke up quite early as it was way too hot to stay in the beds any longer.
There was absolutely no wind and so the plan was to go to the beach, spend some short time with our friends, say bye and hit the road.
On the spot, just like at the camping site the air wasn’t moving at all and so we went inside the airconditioned cafeteria to talk a bit about our new products with our Spanish partners. The conversation was very nice and full of life and great positive vibe. We shook the hands at the table for goodbye and were definitely going to jump into campers and head towards France but once we came outside we were totally shocked to see beautiful steady 18 knots conditions with nice white caps all over the sea.
Instantly we modified the plan and of course right away all our personal kites were inflated and ready for some cooling action.
As absolutely every kiter was exited to finally jump into the water - the beach was full of flying kites. This was a bit problematic for the national kite contest organizers who had to control the crazy kiters crowd and organize some space for the competition as well. Like many others also couple silly Rabbits were flying a bit too close to the contest zone in the very beginning but quickly they all realized that crazy shouting funny dude on the jet-ski wanted to express something really important and everybody went way down or upwind from the red buoys.
Whole Gang was having a great time in the water and the crowd gathered for the competition had to divide itself into 2 groups, one was watching national contest and another was admiring the crazy crew from Maui.
Once the competition ended, around 8 in the evening, Niccolo switched from the wakeboard into the surfboard and so all spectators from the beach, in the number of around 500 (!!!) was watching how one crazy blonde dude from Hawaii was ripping like hell in the shore-break waves.
People couldn’t believe what they saw and once Nicki came back from the water a huge group of audience gathered around him to find out if he had some suction cups on his feet or what other magic trick he uses. They couldn’t believe that the only help was a regular surf wax and the rest was just hard trained skills!
Because of this great session, Niccolo was given a new nick-name from our Spanish brothers – The Octopus!
This last beautiful session in Spain with lots of great affection and positive vibe between us and whole local kite-scene made us a bit unhappy to leave this country today, but the plan is the plan and we had to head up to North as in Bordeux there were people waiting for us as well.
And so we hit the road!
