First day in Riccione - Jabulani tribute
DAY 7
After yesterday's "classy" party, in quite usual Rabbit Gang style we all woke up late and rush packed the campers to leave Sottomarina and head for Riccione. Just a quick stop by Pino's shop "Radical Spot" to leave an autographed Blunt board for his wall as a thank you gift for well organized event.
On the highway the campers were flying full speed with air conditioning blasting but about 2 hours into the trip the smaller RV's engine decided to quit in the middle of the highway between trucks and other cars. Fortunately it happened just next to SOS stop and we managed to stop at the side.
After some quick checking under the hood and a call to the RV mechanic we decided to keep going but with a bit less electricity pumping to the TV's (where we tried to watch Brazil-Netherlands match), computers and AC, as well 100km/h, instead 130-140 km/h which is our favourite one.
One sweaty hour later we arrived in Riccione a beach town similar to Daytona beach spring break week.
The Beach we parked at (in a local kite/windsurf club), is huge with soft sand and so the crew broke out Niccolo's new soccer ball he picked up on the way in a gas station and played a game of keep away - kind of Brasilian style, though we did better than them against Netherlands :)
We then headed for the showers and went to a steak dinner - pasta or pizza is great food but after 5 days in Italy we all felt like having a piece of cow - and actually Bertrand's piece of meat almost run away from his plate, as he ordered a raw one (good Bertrand is quick as Rabbit :) We missed almost all matches of World Cup, but this time we were also heads facing the Uruguay vs Ghana match - we will never forget those poor buddy from Ghana, who missed the penalty in the last minute of powerplay. Jabulani is the such a cruel piece of sport equipment - Rabbit kite would never do a nasty thing like that.
After a healty meal we all headed to the center of town to party a little and check the sites. This weekend is Pink week here so the town and everybody in it is painted pink. Even the lights and some cars are pink. Luckily the spot we stay is close to everything so no need for designated drivers and thankfully nobody got sick or lost. The beach clubs here are packed with people and music pumping, the evening started off with huge fireworks display of mostly pink explosions. then helicopters and the noise began, Seems like everybody in town was out last night with people packed from one end to the other. Some of the gang went all night until 5am while other guys wandered home earlier to have some sleep. Some of those members who stayed got wasted pretty bad this night, but its gonna be our secret who :)
