DAY 17
At daybreak before even a bird was chirping Mike awoke us like a Marine Drill Seargent on the first day of boot camp.

It was his official first day back in charge of the Tour and he was amped to get going as we had quit early the previous night.

Lou took over driving duty, however the windows upstairs in the "bedroom" that Bertrand and Niccolo were in, had a window that was left open so about half a mile down the road they were freezing cold and we couldn't stop because Mike was leaving us in the dust. Luckily we had CB raidos and called for a coffee break and got things better adjusted for the rest of the trip to Carpeiretera.

It's funny when we get to a Cafe in the morning because the old people usually running it or the gas station attendant chick is usually happy to see many young dudes looking like they came from Hawaii walk in the door for business. Until we all have used the restroom and all the toilet paper and soap is gone. Anyhow, we arrived at the super beautiful spot of Carpeiretera which has a huge beach surrounded by cliffs, hills and like something out of a fairy tale view. The waves were pretty good but the wind was not so strong for the strong current that we knew was here so the guys who were hungry took an RV to the local town to chow on some breakfast.

Mike opted to stay and try to kite but found later the wind had died more and so we all decided to bail and hit the pavement again toward Faro our next destination spot on our way down south the Portugese coastline.

We arrived mid day at our friend Daniel's hotel Zodiac here in Quarotera, and after some cheerful greetings we rushed to take the local ferry boat to the sand-bar spot only to find that the tide was too high. So, another esspresso was in order while we waited for the plan. Pedro our distributor in Portugal showed up amazingly and together we all headed to the spot anyway by car and hired a local boat captain to take us the rest of the way.

Once on the sand-bar we set-up the gear and flags and had a great session in flat water with side off shore conditions. The local guys and tourists alike were totally stoked on the new Blunts and Boss combination which was the call for the day. Once we packed it up and got back to the vehicles we headed to dinner, quite hungry, thirsty and dirty as heck. Had an awesome Chicken dinner with spicy oil dressing and freezing cold beers followed by a "Le Mans" style tour of the town compliments of Daniel our super rad host and Rabbit rider here in Quarotera town. Thanks again Daniel for hooking us up with stylish rooms and the internet connection to send this news. And to Pedro for the grand tour of your awesome country that is by far top for kiteboarding here in Europe.

Mahalo !
