Campione del Garda, Italy
DAY 3
After a great, but let's be honest - quite compressed in time big event in Austria, we left Podersdorf at 11pm but managed to drive only 2 hours... as everybody was falling asleep and we simply didn't have enough awake people to drive the Rabbit Mobiles. We stopped at the famous nature destroyer - BP gas station - and unfortunately that wasn't the best move, as at 7 am some family parked right next to our campers (despite 100 different spots and all together an empty parking lot), and started having very loud breakfast. As a revenge Bertrand started the engine but it didn't make any impression on the Adams family and got Bertrand so mad that we had to stop him of doing something worse.
After few hours of driving straight we hit nice mountain highways with famous Brenner Pass - we stopped for a "quick" lunch at the greatest macD restaurant ever and our stop there lasted almost 1,5 hours. The views were amazing though.
After 8 hours on the road, we thought we were finally there, but then we realized, oops... (same as few times last year) that we got lost - though this time it wasn't the GPS fault but ours as instead of Campione del Garda, we ignorantly put Garda in the computer. I hope you learn from our mistake and don't do the same when you come visit this Alpine lake.
As the result we had to drive an extra hour to meet Sergio and Luigi from FDM Distribution who were already waiting for us. We were very happy to see their smiling faces and we smiled even more when they took us to nice pizzeria just next to the church.
DAY 4
This morning we got up at 6 am because our camping site is next (or actually in the middle) of the apartments construction site. At first we all thought someone wanted to destroy our campers, but we quickly get used to the sound of "caterpillar equipment" so we slept few more hours. In the end Adams family gave us some good training ;)
Had a great bruschetta for breakfast and a best coffea ever (at least according to Lou and Niccolo - and hearing those 2 coffea addicts makes you start thinking).
After breakfast we went to visit Tender shop - Wainman Hawaii/FDM local dealer. This store is right on the beach, it looks awesome and the sight of all those Rabbits on the shelves gave us a great start to the day and we couldn't wait to get out and kite...
Famous Garda wind in the morning (Peler) didn't show up (and to be honest we didn't miss it :) but the wind switched on almost like a Swiss watch exactly at 1 pm (Ora wind) and 15-18 knots allowed Boss and Smoke show what they got, so afternoon belonged to Wainman Hawaii, FDM and all the people testing the Rabbits.
What can be more spectacular then Lou riding 125 finless Blunt and Niccolo and Bertrand on Jokes with their bindings. Few more knots would make it a perfect day but still we had a lot of fun and so did all the spectators at the beach watching our performance.
Spot in Lake Garda is the best organized spot we have ever seen - you have to pump your kite, attach all the lines, than wind the lines onto the bar, stand in the line of kiters waiting to be launched (on a weekend there can be up to 30-40 kiters in the line), unroll the lines in the launching zone (and there is only 1 position-line to do that) and you have max 3 chances to launch the kite. If you wont make it or if your lines are messed up it's a Game Over - you have to go back to the end of the line. But still launching the kite (even the easiest one like Rabbit) is unforgettable experience and everybody should try it to prove their abilities. At this point we have to mention Lukas, without whom, all the beach and kitting in Garda would have been probably gone. Great job - LUKAS.
Most of the kiters that were present at the spot, tried Rabbits and new boards, and same as in Austria the feedback was insanely positive. People are basically stoked that they know what they are going to get when they buy a Rabbit - same awesome kite every time, no matter what size they buy and when they renew their quiver. Many say: Rabbit is like a bmx or a skateboard - they never change it as it is perfect as it is, sick!
It's evening now and the whole Gang with Sergio and Luigi is enjoying the best Italian food ever! This fabulous restaurant belongs to Sergio's friend (who also rides Rabbits). It's way up in the mountains. We had to go uphill through really steep road section to get here, but it was worth it. The food is delicious, the company of fellows even better and another great day on the Rabbit Gang Tour is coming to an end. Come join us tomorrow... Check the map to find out the location. Peace out!
