We left Mark in England (... he had enough of us :) ), but Lucas stepped in his place, so we are still a 5 member Rabbit Gang.
From Pole we took a night ferry to Cherbourg and then drove to St Mallot were Nico was waiting for us at his shop "ACTION FUN”.
Both Niccolo and I are injured, I can barely walk, he feels like a wreck too, it's a shame cause the conditions are pretty good.
St Mallot has a beautiful sandy beach, and the shop is right in front of the spot. The tide here is huge.. We were already impressed by the 11 meters tide in Wales, but here it's as much as 12 or even 13 meters. We were stoked. Niccolo couldn't believe how far the ocean can move back (cause in Hawaii there is almost no tide).
After a little look at the shop and showing our gear, our friends went on the water for a light wind session. Nothing crazy for the first day, but we all tested big kites and everyone was stoked.
I remember that one of the guys did a nice kiteloop on Big Mama, I was impressed.
Nico, is a really cool guy, running his shop with a LOT of passion and dedication.
His team is made up of a bunch of young crazy kiters, and we're just sorry that we couldn't kite there, the atmosphere and conditions were really excellent.
Ben went for a little surf with our 6'0, and had good fun with it, even though the waves were not incredible.
The second day, St Mallot was rocking, with a solid 20 knots, with a good meter and half of waves, side on shore. The locals were ripping for us, we saw some good tricks, and some good crashes.
Niccolo and I were pissed off since we couldn't ride, but at least we had fun just watching.
French kiters are crazy, that's what Niccolo must be thinking but he still doesn’t know Portuguese...
Its a good thing nobody got hurt. We gave out some cool Wainman Hawaii t-shirts to the champions of this little "best crash contest". I hope we can come back here next year in shape.
We left quickly after this session cause we had to drive a long way to Bordeaux. I think we slept at a gas station again.
Living in a camper is a real big mess, we got used to it by now, it s basically like living in a little house within a permanent earthquake. We have bags falling on our heads, explosions of bottles on the floor, etc. I remember when the first day Mark almost got knocked out by a 10 kg bag, it flew only 2 cm over his head. Can you imagine 5 guys in a camper, with 6 TT 5 surfboards, 11 kites, ford, drinks, clothes and other stuff? We’re so packed here, it's a joke.
Bon Voyage
