Master of the Ocean: Dominican Republic- Encuentro Beach, North Coast. Feb 22-28, 2014
Master of the Ocean 2014 is the world's most complete watersport competition in four categories, which has created a new class of elite and multi-sport waterman/ woman. As the only competition of its kind, Master of the Ocean challenges the most skilled Surfers, Windsurfers, Kitesurfers and SUP surfers with 5 days of extreme water skills and showcases the best of the Caribbean! Every contestant competes in all 4 disciplines to determine the "Master of the Ocean". Originally conceived as the "IRONMAN of Water Sports", the Master of the Ocean was created by german waterman Marcus Bohm in 2003, with the idea of providing an opportunity for Dominicans and Dominican residents to compete side by side with international professionals. The competition has grown into an international event with watermen/women from around the world attending the event.
Legendary Dominican waterman and Wainman Hawaii Pro rider, Luciano Gonzalez, was there in full force representing and charging hard in every discipline. As a 4X winner of the Master of the Ocean, Luciano dominated the Kitesurfing and placed well in all the other disciplines, going head to head with Maui chargers, Zane Schweitzer and Franciso Porcella.
After a grueling 5 days, Luciano was awarded the "2nd Overall Winner Master of the Ocean 2014" - Congratulations Luciano!
Luciano has a surf/kite school (LG Surf Camp Cabarete) in Encuentro Beach, Cabarete and will be offering kite surf clinics and lessons with Wainman Hawaii gear, in partnership with the Dominican Republic WH distributor (Quillo) Maraja Beach Club (located on Cabarete Beach).
