La Ventana Classic and KiteXpo lots of fun for Wainman Hawaii.

The Rabbit Gang was there from January 18th to the 24th.  The winds were very light the first two days which provided a perfect opportunity for everyone to demo the Big Mama and our Surfboards.  Everyone was very impressed with the boards' speed and Mama's light wind performance.

The last two days we were blessed with very strong "El Norte" winds.  WH Rabbits Danny Alverez and Spencer Lujan entered the 11 mile downwinder from Cerralvo Island to La Ventana. Spencer came in 2nd Place in the Sportsmanship Division.

La Ventana/El Sargento is a beautiful Bay in Southern Baja, Mexico. The two towns have a combined population of about 400 people and are located approximately 45 minutes south of La Paz, the capitol of B.C.S. These quaint villages are mostly inhabited by fisherman and their families until the winter months when 300-400 North Americans arrive for the windy season.

La Ventana has been recognized as one of the world's best spots to learn or practice kiteboarding. The combination of plenty of long beaches, steady side-onshore winds and a big beach that hooks out downwind mean that you can maximize your learning potential while having a big safety factor.

During the winter months (mid-Nov. to mid-March), the days are warm and the nights cool. Average day temperatures reach 80 degrees fahrenheit and drop at night to a low in the 60's. Water temperatures hover from 68-78 (all temperatures in fahrenheit). Summer temperatures (April - Nov.) range between 85-105 during the day and 80 at night. The water is a perfect 80-90. The windy season Mid October until April the thermal winds blow on an average of 4 days a week.  When the El Norte comes through the wind picks up to 30 plus knots. La Ventana is a very safe sailing spot, perfect for beginners and experts alike. On the big wind days the outside channel is perfect for riding large sea swell up to 10' Feet, there are also great wave spots on several of the reefs. If you're a beginner the inside areas around the campground are non-threatening and a safe friendly place to learn.

All kites and board sizes were demoed during the event resulting in many happy and converted Rabbits!

A special thanks to Marina Chang (The Kiteboarder Magazine), Tim Hatler (Palapas Ventana), Neil Hutchinson and all the WH riders that helped and participated at the demo.
