BLUNT BOARD SERIESFinally they have arrived. The first series of kiteboards in our board line: The Blunt Boards. To come back from every session stoked, a board needs to handle any condition that the rider may encounter, and adjust to any mood the rider is in. At the end of the day, it really is all about the ride. It is so important that the power and huge potential given by the kite will be utilized properly. It does not matter what the conditions are when you show up with a Blunt, because this board handles it all. A true freerider wants to show up with one board, throw up a kite, and enjoy the ride. A Blunt always makes it a fun ride. SOULFUL RIDINGBlunts are all about having fun. Go faster here, slow down there, jump this kicker, spray - carve that bay. Whatever the freerider wants to do this board will take it in stride. The board has got what it takes to be versatile, but has no problem getting the riders adrenaline pumping. Its greatest attribute is very fast acceleration that lets rider reach high speeds amazingly quickly while the reduced drag allows you to enjoy those higher speeds without extra effort . This, along with the very light handling and advanced shape to avoid face spray, make riding on Blunts just a sweet experience. The way these boards go through the roughest chop is just unbelievable. Turning a whirlpool into a kiddy pool is a divine skill that Blunts posses. UPWIND PERFORMANCEDespite their name, Blunts are not dull. They cut the water like a hot knife through butter. Thin rails and a full harmonically concave bottom ensure good upwind performance and make the whole board work like a hydrodynamic fin. Pointing towards the moving air is not achieved by the typical shortcut of flat rocker. Instead, all Blunts are blessed with a deep rocker that allows soft landings and total chop absorbtion. For the safety of the rider, those thin rails are filled with special elastic silicone resin that protects rider from cuts and bruises. DIRECT CONTROLBecause of their unique light and thin construction, Blunt boards handle exceptionally well on the water. The drag of the boards is reduced to a minimum so the sensation of riding is really different from other twin tips. Thanks to the engineered balance and taper from the center to the rails, the ratio between the length and width of Blunt boards could be widened. That makes the boards plane much quicker and edge better. This is done without any additional risk to the ankles, contrary to the usual result when widening traditional heavier boards. Reduced thickness of rails and centered weight bias take care of the physics. The wider board along with the close fitting Blunt Binding System result in direct control over the board and gives it instant edge response. JUMPING POPJumping is the most fun for many freeriders, so the Blunt Boards are designed like all good blunts. They give a real nice high! Because of their light construction and engineered flex they want to fly by themselves as soon as rider initiates the popping motion. Because of this jumping nature, progression is super fast, and all maneuvers are perfected very quickly. Speed up, hold the edge and just pop the board. The result is a good high. LANDING COMFORT AND SAFETYWhat goes up must come down, so we haven’t forgotten about the landings. No one wants to have to see the dentist after every ride to fix loose teeth. That is why the rocker of the board is such a crucial factor. The board must let the water absorb the impact of the landing. Blunts have high rockers and each size Blunt Board is designed individually in order to maintain the optimum performance. Because of this, on landing the water is displaced outward towards the tips of the board in a controlled manner. The result it very simple: instead of feeling like landing on the asphalt rider feels like he is landing in soft butter. Much better. And what about the impact resistance of the core and strength of those uniquely light boards when the momentum and landing angle are really dramatic? Despite of their thin look and lightness, due to their 100% custom multiple sandwich technology, Blunts bravely take all landings on their chest. They are durable against highest and hardest landings. Despite having the technical capability of creating totally bomb-proof boards, we chose to take some other factors into consideration. From our own experience and wide research, we found out that the damage done by totally unbreakable boards can be really severe. Because of this, at a certain overload pressure, the Blunt board is designed to take the impact on it and save the bones of its riders, by breaking in one of its 3 construction points. Those of you who already had that bad luck of breaking bones such as feet, ankles, legs, knees or back know what we are talking about. The way we see it, the board is just a board and the health and time needed to cure any damage done to the bone structure of your body is just priceless. Of course this is the extreme overload scenario that we took into consideration and you don’t have to be afraid of jumping and power landing. In fact, you can jump even more bravely now, as even if you take it too far, your @$$ will be saved! BLUNT BINDING SYSTEMIn order to provide safe and complete control over the Blunts, these lively boards are equipped with very ergonomic, super adjustable and well padded binding system. Designed from the ground up to complement the special features of the boards. The Blunt Binding System is made of super lightweight EVA pads thermoformed on full carbon plates and adjustable straps made with a memory foam and designed to fit all sizes of feet really well. Really all. So now, especially those female or younger riders, who have smaller or thinner feet can ride stoked and have tight fitting and direct control over their board. Blunts are designed to be ridden with straps and pads because they are very light and responsive boards. This is why they don’t need any higher, wakestyle bindings, at least this is how they are designed. As the exception to the rule, Niccolo is ripping his Blunt with wake-style boots, but this is a totally different story, as you might guess. He is not quite a freerider yet. Each board has 2 sets of inserts, giving you the possibility to ride it with either narrower or wider stance, depending on the natural preference and body proportions of each single rider. FINLESS HEAVENThe preferred way of riding boards, especially Blunts, for many advanced riders and Brother Lou himself, is finless. This, indeed, is a different dimension of riding. Slicing through the water like a sword through a piece of paper, is really something different. You can try it some time too and enjoy this unique skill of Blunts. Just remove your fins and stick some surf wax in the holes so the water doesn’t spray you in the eye, and go deeper. COREAs our Blunts are rolled in Europe, they are naturally made in the old European style of mixing good materials together. And so the core of the Blunts is a combination of ultralight Airex foam, high quality prelaminated wood center core, amongst with the carbon and fiberglass multiple layers. Parts for each single board are cut and shaped by the CNC machines (Computer Numerical Control, which in human language means that computer steers the cuttters). After this they are laminated together in the custom technology, and that simply speaking means that every board is fully handcrafted by one of our factory professionals. LAMINATION PROCESSIn order to provide maximum strength and durability with the excess amount of the materials used (so the total weight is very low), the lamination process needs to be very precise and patient. Each board is laminated manually, layer after layer, in super clean factory conditions. To achieve the best characteristics of the laminate we are using only the most advanced epoxy resins with slow hardeners which provide the most elastic durability of the laminated coats. The long drying process of each board is taking place in the special vacuum sealed 3D mold. FLEX AND OTHER PARAMETERSBecause of the combination of materials used, precise lamination process, and precisely designed number of layers, each Blunt Board has the right balance between flexibility, stiffness and strength. The interrelation between those factors has very big influence on the general feel of the board: how it forgives being overpowered, how it acts in underpowered conditions, how it points upwind, how it turns, along with the general durability against impacts and forces. Without getting too technical it must be said that Blunts have it all really figured out, and this was not by accident. STRENGTH THROUGH SCIENCETo achieve extra lengthwise strength in our boards, we have looked towards science and technology. Instead of overbuilding boards and making them like heavy snowboards, we gave them a special sidecut profile - the full concave shape all the way down the boards length. This, by the nature of physics adds superior strength to the boards without the need to over laminate them with heavy extra glass layers. That is why our Blunt boards can be light as feather, and strong as bamboo. ELASTIC RAILSAs mentioned before, the rails of the Blunt boards are made with a special elastic silicone resin, that absorbes any impact of the board in case it touches the rider. It also increases the endurance of the board by not limiting the engineered flex of the board, which is the case while using stiffer material such as ABS. CARETAKING AND LIMITED WARRANTYAs you already figured out by now, the construction of Blunt Boards is very unique and complex. The features, which we thought the most desired, made Blunts the way they are. They are not made to ride in the woods where rocks and dirt are covered with frozen H20, but are designed to surf, sink, and fly high in the water environment. That is why they indeed are fragile, delicate and require some special attention. This is why every board comes with a nice padded compact bag to hide your beloved Blunt in once you are done with her for a day. By getting this board with the bag please realize what they are for and really take care of your Blunt, while and after ripping on it. Mahalo. CHOOSE YOUR SIZENaturally Blunts are made proportionally for different sizes of riders. This, along with the average wind conditions that you normally experience should be your main factors in choosing your size. But, as Blunt boards are quite different from other boards that you might used before, please don’t automatically try to copy the size that you rode before. Down below in this section you can find out a bit about our recommendations for each size of the board, and to whom it is addressed. 120One-Twenty is the smallest of Blunts and it is made for the lighter riders. It is also a great toy for the advanced medium sized boarders who need to have a special weapon for stronger winds. This is the favorite size of Lou for windy Maui days (30 knots). And for the moderate wind conditions One-Twenty it is the ideal board for kite-girls and kids. 125One-Twenty-Five is the all around must for all medium sized riders. Because of its optimal proportions featuring slightly increased width it has a good low end while still handling great in the stronger winds. Naturally on moderate days it is rocking the best for those medium guys! 130One-Thirty should be the all around weapon of choice for all heavier riders. Because of its sweet balance of the dimensions this size of Blunt guarantees a great range for bigger guys who will be covered all the way from the barely powered breezes to the full powered winds. DIMENSIONS 135One-Thirty-Five is a light wind version of Blunt. With even more increased width than 125 and 130 and the much bigger total surface it is a great toy for all the underpowered days. It is also a great board for fresh kiteboarders who need something more stable for their freeriding initiations. PACKAGE CONTENT
